Substrate Monitoring

Plant Scale-I and Plant Scale-II

Plant Scale-I · Plant Scale-II

Substrate weighing systems with 70 kg trays that track weight, drainage and supply and return EC/pH, so irrigation follows what the crop actually uses.

What It Is

Overview

Plant Scale weighs the substrate so irrigation follows measured data.

Plant Scale weighs a representative section of the crop and its substrate continuously. Changes in weight show how much water the plants transpire and how much drains away. Supply and return EC/pH show what the crop takes up. The software turns these readings into water content, drainage ratio and substrate volumetric water content, which feed the irrigation decision.

Plant Scale-I is a long rail-mounted gutter with a 2500 × 210 mm tray for growbags and grow slabs. Plant Scale-II carries pots on a 2040 × 300 mm tray beside its control cabinet. OXYGRO rates Plant Scale at +20% labour efficiency, +30% water and fertiliser efficiency, and +10% yield and quality.

Who It Is ForSubstrate growers, from greenhouse strawberries to drip-irrigated vine crops, who want irrigation timing based on measured transpiration and drainage rather than manual sampling.

Features

  • It measures transpiration, drainage ratio, weight-loss ratio and VPD to give a reliable basis for irrigation.
  • It shows real-time weight, EC/pH of the supply and return solution, and flow.
  • It integrates indoor radiation, PAR and plant sensors.
  • A smart irrigation decision model runs closed-loop autonomous irrigation.
  • The software runs on computer, mobile and tablet, and produces custom crop reports.

Plant Scale data flow The substrate scales measure substrate weight, drainage EC and pH, feed volume and drainage volume, with optional solar radiation, air temperature and humidity, substrate and plant sensors. The software turns these into water content, drainage ratio and substrate volumetric water content. The results drive a smart irrigation decision model for closed-loop autonomous irrigation, data-driven adjustments to the irrigation strategy and custom crop reports. 1 · Measure 2 · Analyse 3 · Decide What the scale reads Calculated values Irrigation decisions Substrate weight Return-flow EC/pH Feed volume Return-flow volume Optional sensors Solar radiation Air temperature/humidity Substrate and plant sensors Plant Scale-III: 9 measurable parameters, incl. drainage EC/pH Water content Drainage ratio Substrate volumetric water content (VWC) Smart irrigation decision model: closed-loop autonomous irrigation Data-driven adjustments to the irrigation strategy Custom crop reports Software on computer, mobile and tablet
